Three-group kindergarten

The project is for a three-group kindergarten building on a vacant plot of land in Várszoknya, Buda. The new building grows out of the existing retaining wall system, which has a space-forming effect at the intersection of the street and the stairs. The mass of the building blends into the hillside, enclosing the garden as a thick wall from the rising stairs. The educational program and community-building goals of my former kindergarten fit well into this unique design environment. The structure of the space is quickly recognizable but varied. The stone lower level absorbs the service functions, and each group room on the wood-coated upper level has a connection to the garden. The resulting building responds sensitively to the existing spatial situation, enhancing its values.
