The significance of the name Ikarus goes beyond the famous buses - especially in Újmátyásföld, where the factory has defined the identity of the district for decades. The former Ikarus shooting range, which was an important sports center for the factory, is now an abandoned reminder of the life that once existed here; having lost its function, the range now lies hidden in the forest along the Szilas stream. It is situated on the border between factory and suburb, past and present, yet does not really belong to either; the project aims to restore the community function that disappeared with bus manufacturing through a building that has lost its role. With a new purpose, the shooting range preserves the old industrial form and the local identity of Ikarus, creating a link between the district's past and present.
