The Ottlik coffee house and bookstore - in addition to its two main functions - is also supplemented with a gallery. Although there are similar cultural spots in Budapest already but not one in this part of the 1st district. My goal when creating the architectural concept was that the building should be able to express Géza Ottlik’s personality and his perception of the world in the spaces as well. Instead of linearity, the goal was fragmentation and blurring the boundaries. The Tábor street facade of the building adapts to the neighboring house only partially and the retaining wall on the site border on the Logodi Street side continues the line of the retaining walls of the neighboring sites. The cafe is located on the basement level and the bookstore is on the ground floor. On the 1st and 2nd floors there is a temporary exhibition of works by contemporary artists, as well as a permanent exhibition presenting the work of Géza Ottlik.
