The building is divided into two masses of different sizes, adapting to the elevation differences of nearby houses. The plot links Kis-Duna Promenade with Széchenyi Square, so a covered passage was created on the northern side. The smaller volume follows the streetscape, while the larger mass is set back, forming a public space. The rear volume is not perpendicular to the front but follows the line of neighboring buildings, emphasizing the connection. The shed roof, inspired by contemporary designs in Esztergom, brings natural light into the reading area. The facade is clad in simple brick, while the roof and window frames use green copper, referencing the basilica. The entrance and a lecture hall are in the smaller volume; the larger one contains reading rooms and support spaces on three levels, connected by a corridor. The ground floor hosts an open reading area, while the upper floors house the main library.
