I designed a Fitness Complex on the Kis-Duna promenade. A key consideration was to include a large hall for ball games, which led to placing a gymnasium on the upper floor. This determined the building’s overall massing: the large, closed “box” of the hall is elevated above a lighter ground floor structure, surrounded by pillars and curtain walls.
On the ground floor, visitors are welcomed by the reception area, a café, changing rooms, and two smaller fitness studios, while the upper floor accommodates the gymnasium and the club room. An interesting spatial feature appears in the foyer, where a floor opening creates a striking double-height space and establishes a direct visual connection with the gymnasium above.
A central part of the concept is the close relationship with nature. Every level of the building offers views of the Danube, while transitional spaces around the garden strengthen the connection between inside and outside.
