echoes of the pauline monastery

"What is history? An echo of the past in the future; a reflex from the future on the past.” ― Victor Hugo At Árpád Street 90 in Miskolc, the former Pauline monastery hidden here today becomes the new home of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order or Malta. Once divided into three courtyards, the site reopens to the city: offices in the monastery building, an event and education center in the farm wing, a shop, and a herb garden. The ruins become visible again, with an archaeological park and an open-air chapel recalling their past. The new architectural elements are clearly distinct yet organically integrated – the echo here does not repeat, but reflects: a meeting of past, present, and future.
