During the development of the plot behind the Chapel of Saint Stephen, an important consideration for me was to compensate for the lack of an open space in front of the church. Therefore, I designed the layout of the plot in such a way that, by withdrawing the new buildings from the church, a kind of square-like space would emerge between the two structures. The three main building components - the studio, the storage area, and the exhibition space - each take on a chimney-like form, whose vertical emphasis reflects the tower of the church. These are connected by flat-roofed intermediate volumes, creating an enclosed, sheltered inner courtyard. The courtyard is not only a circulation hub but also the heart of the building: an open yet hidden space, a place for introspection, focused creation, and communal presence.
