The Catholic student residence planned for the historic district of Košice includes a chapel and a community center. These functions will be housed in three separate buildings that enclose a square and extend the line of the market square. The site is located next to the Dominican Church, which is reflected in the buildings’ canopies, echoing the church’s supporting columns. The atmosphere of the student residence is defined by a composition of monolithic and lightweight, natural materials. The exposed concrete walls are complemented by built-in wooden furniture. These are not simply placed within the space but are positioned to define it. The path leading to the chapel begins with a walled garden. Its interior space is also shaped by a composition of monolithic materials and natural wood.
