The project addresses poverty on the outskirts of Košice, on the edge of the city’s historic downtown. Its goal is to support talented young people through music, enabling them to pursue secondary or higher education through their professional and social development. The adjacent synagogue (now a concert hall), designed by Lajos Kozma, was a defining element: the new building takes on a subordinate role, with its mass reinforcing the geometric order of the space. The building’s side “courtyard” serves as an outdoor viewing area, ensuring the continuity of the development while breaking up the mass and leaving room to breathe. The grid system is functionally based, organizing rehearsal rooms on the upper level and a community and chamber hall on the ground floor. The grid pattern extends into the space, and the emerging exposed concrete framework is complemented by wooden infills and acoustic layers tailored to the musical and communal functions, creating a unique interior atmosphere.
