Creative Center and Family Cultural Space

I designed a creative center complemented by a community space in downtown Košice, a place where both professional artists and the culture-loving urban community come together. Key features of the downtown site include the oak tree standing in the center and the currently unfinished end of the building block: a firewall and a residential building with a porch facing the site, which is in a somewhat neglected state. These characteristics shaped the development, through which I sought to provide a fitting conclusion to the building complex, remedy the awkwardness of the residential building, and take advantage of the pleasant open space created by the widening of the tree and the walkway. By incorporating the existing residential building and reorganizing its functions, my building complex can be divided into three units—featuring the inner courtyard layout typical of the city center—supplemented by an outdoor pavilion.
