The Danube has always been a defining element of Göd’s identity and community life. The riverbank functioned as a public bathing area for over a century, accompanied by a restaurant and a boathouse supporting water sports. After the demolition of the former boathouse and the closure of the tavern, boats are currently stored in temporary conditions and the riverside area stands unused. The project aims to restore this riverside hub by accommodating both sporting activities and a small tavern. The existing brick tavern building is renovated by preserving its original walls while reinterpreting its historic spatial character, and a new lightweight boathouse is constructed on the site. The layout of the latter is based on the measurements of boat storage modules, creating a flexible space, adaptable for storage, training or occasional events. In the nearby park riverside stopover facilities are provided for water tourists, reinforcing the site’s role as a communal and recreational node.
