Art at the center

Located in the center of the village of Szenna is the former collective farm office, which, having lost its original function about 10 years ago. My Thesis transforms the relationship between the site and the surrounding buildings by partially demolishing the old structure and then constructing a new one in its place. The plan attempts to integrate existing functions that are still searching for a home. The program focuses on an arts school with folk music & dance departments, complemented by the local library and spaces that can also serve as specialized classrooms for the elementary school. The auditorium building, the second element of the plan, serves the community and hosts its representative events. During the design of the buildings, great emphasis was placed on multifunctional use of space, simplicity and rationality. The school building adopts the plastered facade system of the neighbour houses, while the auditorium evokes local brick barns in its use of materials and massing.
